Abortion is nearly outlawed in Texas, but women can still flee to other states where it’s legal. That’s slowly changing with cities adopting so-called “sanctuary” ordinances, prohibiting abortion trafficking.
The push is led by Mark Lee Dickson, who heads the “Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn” initiative. He says they plan to continue to target areas that are home to major highways, linking big cities to New Mexico. That’s where most abortions are done, he says.
