BWC Terminals is on the receiving end of a lawsuit as a result of last Saturday’s sulfuric acid spill. About a million gallons of acid was spilled after a supply line ruptured at the company’s Channelview facility at Jacintoport.
The plaintiff in Wednesday’s lawsuit, Jeffery Lawson, was working as a tankerman on a nearby ship in the Houston Ship Channel when the release happened around 2 a.m.
The lawsuit says there were no alarms or warnings before the toxic gas cloud enveloped and injured Lawson. Lawson is seeking at least a million dollars.
