A man has been arrested for allegedly running an immigration scam in Hidalgo County.
The sheriff’s office says 56-year-old Francisco Villanueva took more than 57-thousand dollars from multiple victims by claiming he could get a judge to grant them legal residency. He was booked on Sunday on seven counts of theft and given a bond of 350-thousand dollars.
The sheriff’s office is also asking anyone who thinks they may have been a victim of the scam to reach out to investigators.
