Union officials say at least one death is now being attributed to the New York City nurses’ strike. It happened at Mount Sinai where an ICU patient apparently died because of reduced care.

The New York Post reports that patient, who was on a machine to keep their blood circulating, “was not restrained and sedated properly,” and pulled a tube from their neck.

The nurses are demanding higher pay, better benefits and improved workplace security. The strike enters its second week on Monday with no end in sight.
