By Senator Ted Cruz is expressing support for President Donald Trump’s desire to annex Greenland as a US territory. The Texas Republican says he agrees with Trump’s view that the US has a national security interest in the vast Arctic island, since it’s well on the way to northern Russia.
Cruz says Greenland is also of economic interest because of its natural resources, including rare-earth minerals that are used in US high-tech defense systems. The leaders of both Greenland and Denmark, which owns the island, have said no sale.
