Governor Greg Abbott says he’s endorsing Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller’s Republican primary challenger. Abbott announced his support for political newcomer and beekeeper Nate Sheets via social media on Wednesday.
Miller has strong ties to President Trump, but he also supports the Texas hemp industry and opposes Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick’s attempts to ban all products containing THC.
Miller and Abbott were both elected to their respective offices in 2014. Abbott is seeking an unprecedented fourth term.
