Union Leader Running In Texas’ Democratic Lieutenant Governor Primary

Steelworkers union leader Marcos Velez is picking up steam in the Democratic primary race for lieutenant governor.

The Texas AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education endorsed Velez’s campaign over the weekend. He also has the support of the Texas Majority PAC, which is the top campaign partner of the Texas Democratic Party.

Velez is running in the primary against four-term state Representative Vikki Goodwin of Austin. The winner will take on the GOP incumbent, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, in November.
