A former Cameron County jailer has been arrested after allegedly being paid to bring a controlled substance into the jail.
Sheriff Manuel Trevino announced yesterday that Eduardo Antonio Villarreal has been charged with bribery, abuse of capacity and bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility.
revino says the former jailer admitted to getting 700 dollars to bring the substance into the jail last month. Villarreal has been fired from his position and has had his bond set at 30-thousand dollars.
