This week’s Arctic blast tested the state’s power grid, but experts say it passed. Tom Overbye at the Smart Grid Center says that work over the past five years has hardened transmission lines, so they can handle a freeze. Also, he says more power generation has come online since Winter Storm Uri, allowing the grid to keep up with demand.
