A Texas appeals court has denied a request to overturn the conviction of a man accused of killing his wife in McAllen. Richard Ford was arrested after his wife Melissa died in 2020.

Ford claimed that the trial court made an error by failing to suppress some evidence used at his trial. He also said the court should have instructed the jury to consider the lesser offense of kidnapping. Ford is currently serving a sentence of life in prison without parole.
