The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office has ordered autopsies for two people found dead after a brush fire in Penitas.
First responders were called to the fire on Four Mile Line on Tuesday afternoon. The bodies were found in a vehicle after the fire was put out.
The sheriff’s office says the deaths are now part of a capital murder investigation, and that the bodies were burned beyond recognition. Investigators hope the autopsies will help identify the victims.
