The San Antonio City Council is trying to figure out how to stop the construction of an ICE detention facility on the city’s East Side.

Homeland Security has bought a warehouse on Southeast Loop 410 with plans to turn it into a processing center for up to 15-hundred illegal immigrants at a time. City council members will meet this morning to discuss having city staff consider ways to keep it from happening.

The options are limited, since federal facilities aren’t required to follow local zoning rules or permitting requirements.
