A fugitive wanted for a double homicide in Alton has been returned to the U.S. from Mexico. Hidalgo County authorities say 33-year-old Mario Lozano-Lemus was turned over to the sheriff’s office Tuesday.

Lozano-Lemus has been a fugitive since 2018, when he was accused of shooting and killing his mother-in-law and his sister-in-law. Officials credited the U.S. Department of International Affairs and the government of Mexico with helping secure the suspect’s extradition.
