US Representative Tony Gonzales is dropping out of the primary runoff. Gonzales made the announcement on Thursday and vowed to fight for his constituents during the rest of his term. Gonzales also admitted to an affair he had with an aide who died last year after setting herself on fire.
The third-term congressman was on his way to a runoff with Brandon Herrera, a YouTube influencer and gun manufacturer who narrowly defeated Gonzales in Tuesday’s primary. Herrera is now the GOP nominee for Texas’ 23rd Congressional District.
