By The outcome of a landmark social media addiction trial is now in the hands of a jury. Meta and YouTube are on trial in downtown Los Angeles, accused of deliberately engineering their sites to hook young users.
A 20-year-old woman filed the lawsuit, claiming the sites had a negative impact on her youth. Closing arguments were heard on Thursday and deliberations started Friday. TikTok and Snap were also named as defendants but settled before the trial began.
