A South Texas congressman is sponsoring a new bill that he says would protect Americans from warrantless searches by ICE. Democratic Congressman Vicente Gonzalez introduced the bill on Monday.
The congressman says the “Say No to Warrantless Searches Act” would ensure that federal agents engaging in immigration enforcement cannot search private property without a judge’s order.
Gonzalez says he’s hoping to get some bipartisan support, noting that many conservatives don’t like the government coming onto their land without a warrant.
