Texas Congressman Michael McCaul says former Director of National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent’s resignation represents an “ideological split” in the GOP.
Kent issued a resignation letter on Tuesday urging President Trump to halt military operations in Iran. McCaul, who is a former chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, called the resignation “deeply disappointing” during a recent NewsNation interview.
The congressman expressed his disagreement with the intel official’s assessment of the conflict, noting that he thinks “Iran has been an imminent threat since 1979.”
