The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the deaths of dozens of cattle in rural La Joya.

The investigation began last week when an anonymous tip sent investigators to a property on Jarachinas Road south of 14 Mile Line last week. Around 50 cows were found dead on the property.

Samples have been taken to determine the cause of death, as well as any illness that might be present in cows that are still alive on the property. A deputy has been assigned to monitor the condition of the remaining cattle.
