The International Energy Agency says people should carpool or work from home as gas prices soar.
The agency’s member countries last week announced they’d be releasing 400 million barrels of oil from emergency reserves. Prices have gone up steadily since the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran led the Islamic Republic to close the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime oil shipping route.
Triple-A puts today’s national average at three-dollars and 91-cents for a gallon of regular. A week ago it was three-63, and a month ago – just before the start of the war in Iran – prices were hovering around two-93 a gallon.
