A change in state law will soon ban a number of popular products being sold by Texas hemp businesses.
The legalization of hemp under the 2018 US Farm Bill and a 2019 state law accidentally opened the door to a profitable industry of hemp products that give users a “high.” One of these is THCA flower, which isn’t psychoactive on its own, but which turns into delta-9 THC when it’s heated or smoked.
New state rules from the Texas Department of State Health Services require factoring THCA into calculations of THC content in consumable hemp products. The new regulations take effect on March 31st.
