A recently elected Texas Democrat in the state Senate is being shut out of participating in any of the Senate’s committees.

Taylor Rehmet, a machinist from Fort Worth, won an election in January in a right-leaning Texas Senate district. Republican Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick didn’t assign the newcomer to any committees this week.

Rehmet blames Patrick’s decision on partisan politics, and is using it to raise money for his campaign ahead of the general election on November 3rd.
