By Texas billionaire Elon Musk says he’ll pay the salaries of TSA screeners, who haven’t been paid since the start of the partial government shutdown. Musk made the offer in an X post over the weekend.
The Department of Homeland Security says hundreds of Transportation Security Administration screeners have quit, and many others have been calling in sick, leading to long lines at airports nationwide.
Federal law says executive branch employees can’t be paid by non-governmental sources, so Musk’s idea is probably a non-starter.
