The Texas senate is doing a deep dive on reports that illegal immigrants are getting access to the state’s Medicaid program.
A hearing touched on what is called the 90-day “reasonable opportunity period” for people who cannot prove they’re citizens.
Caitlin Finley with the group FJ Action says that, in some cases, people have stayed on that “temporary” status for years. That has led to talk of referring unlawful applicants to the feds rather than just allowing them to enroll anyway.
