Vice President JD Vance has arrived In Pakistan ahead of the U.S. – Iran peace talks. “Al Jazeera” says security is tight in Islamabad, where Vance and the U.S. team will meet with Iranian negotiators on Saturday for the first high-level meeting between the two nations since the Islamic revolution of 1979.
Pakistan has agreed to mediate the talks that seek to end the conflict that has affected shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, where the world gets 20 percent of its oil and gas. The U.S. negotiators will include Vance, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner.
