Texas has two new state Supreme Court justices, and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was in Austin for the occasion. Alito visited the Texas Capitol for Thursday’s swearing-in ceremony for James Sullivan and Kyle Hawkins.

Alito administered the oath of office to Hawkins, who had previously clerked for him at the U.S. Supreme Court. Retired federal judge Thomas Griffith swore in Sullivan, Governor Greg Abbott’s former general counsel. Abbott and members of the Texas Supreme Court attended the ceremony.
