Still no endorsement from President Donald Trump in the upcoming Texas Republican runoff for U.S. Senate. Reporters asked Trump about it on Friday aboard Air Force One after his visit to China.
The president said he believes either incumbent Senator John Cornyn or Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton could defeat Democratic candidate James Talarico in November.
Without mentioning Talarico by name, Trump said the Democrats are running “a weird candidate.” The runoff between Cornyn and Paxton is Tuesday of next week.
