The U.S. and Iran have agreed to pause attacks for now and meet for additional talks amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. This latest wave of chaos started with an Iranian drone strike on a ship traveling through the Strait of Hormuz, which led the U.S. military to carry out retaliatory attacks against Iran.

Over the weekend, Iran targeted U.S. allies across the Persian Gulf and asserted control over the Strait, the country’s foreign minister warning that safe passage would only be guaranteed for vessels coordinating with its government.

Word that the back-and-forth attacks would be paused for now comes ahead of a planned meeting on Tuesday between delegations from the U.S. and Iran in Qatar.
