Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico may be having trouble connecting with black voters.

Talarico held a majority-black town hall in Houston on Sunday in which he took questions from the sometimes testy crowd. Black voters overwhelmingly supported U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett, whom Talarico defeated in the Democratic primary.

Talarico ended up pledging to spend 25 million dollars on black voter outreach, which he claimed was the largest such outlay in recent Texas history.
