The heads of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Medical Association are calling President Trump’s new executive order on childhood vaccines dangerous.
Trump said the order would split the childhood MMR vaccine – for measles, mumps and rubella – into three shots. The order would also push for all childhood immunizations to be administered at separate medical visits, instead of one visit.
Dr. Andrew Racine with the American Academy of Pediatrics says the order is disheartening and dangerous as measles cases in the U.S. hit a 35-year high. Dr. Willie Underwood with the American Medical Association says the order puts children’s health at risk.
