U.S. Senator John Cornyn is calling on Homeland Security to consult with the locals about border barrier projects in the Big Bend area.

The Texas Republican contacted DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin on Friday regarding concerns about federal plans to place physical barriers in Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park.

Cornyn referred to a federal law that requires federal agencies to consult local governments, residents, and tribes in an effort to minimize the impact on nearby communities.
