Governor Greg Abbott is in the running for a fourth term. Abbott announced his reelection bid on Sunday during a rally in Houston’s Fifth Ward.
The governor spoke about the state’s “record-breaking growth” during his three terms in office.
Abbott focused on lowering property taxes and reducing the costs of child care, health care, and housing. He told the crowd his wife Cecilia was born in Houston and he first ran for public office here, so it was like a “homecoming” to kick off his campaign in the city.
