Governor Greg Abbott says Houston could still lose more than 100 million dollars in public safety funding.

City Council approved an amended ordinance on Wednesday, clarifying how Houston police are to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. At a press conference in Conroe on Wednesday, Abbott said the ordinance places the city in compliance, but the HPD still hasn’t agreed to the terms.

Until the police department formally agrees to notify Homeland Security about people in custody who may be in the country illegally, Abbott says the funding at stake will remain frozen.
