Texas Governor Greg Abbott is asking for more federal help due to winter weather. He submitted a USDA disaster designation request for several counties in the Rio Grande Valley.

Abbott says the ice and freezing temperatures caused major damage to citrus crops and the cash is needed to get producers back up and running. The governor also noted it’s possible additional counties will be added to the designation.
