Abortion supporters are calling for the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene ever since the new Texas pro-life law was temporarily reinstated.
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granted a stay on Friday night after a federal judge in Austin blocked the law. Attorney General Ken Paxton had filed the motion earlier in the day, claiming the federal government has no jurisdiction over the state law.
Texas passed S.B. 8 earlier this year, banning abortion after an unborn child’s heartbeat can be detected.
