An Alamo woman has been charged in connection with the car crash death of a Valley man more than a week-and-a-half ago. 27-year-old Nylza Cristal Lopez-Garcia is charged with negligent homicide for her actions that investigators say caused the wreck that killed 57-year-old Nauhm Puente Ramos January 25th.
Lopez was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when, police say, she sped through a stop sign at Cesar Chavez and Sioux roads in San Juan, and plowed into a Ford Focus. Ramos got pinned in his car and was pronounced dead.
A probable cause affidavit obtained by the McAllen Monitor states Lopez acknowledged to police that she became distracted as she reached for something on the floorboard and didn’t see the stop sign.
