Former Texas Democratic congressman Collin Allred is asking South Texas voters to support his next run for the U.S. Senate. Allred held a town hall in Alamo on Saturday.

Allred reminded voters that he grew up in Brownsville, a connection that makes issues affecting the Rio Grande Valley more personal to him. Allred said he wants to increase the federal government’s focus on affordable housing, healthcare and childcare.
