Ambassador: Addressing Security, Violence Important To US, Mexico

A U.S. ambassador says addressing security concerns and helping to reduce violence is important to future relations with Mexico.

Ambassador Ken Salazar came to Brownsville Tuesday to speak with Rio Grande Valley leaders about what’s happening in Mexico and how it affects border communities.

Salazar says the two countries are working on a security agreement designed to disrupt Mexican cartel activity. He says the new agreement will benefit the U.S. and Mexico by making communities on both sides of the border safer and more secure.
