An appeals court is upholding a ruling that named Gerardo Lozano the winner of a seat on the Edinburg City Council.
David White was initially named the winner of the Place Four council seat in 2023 after getting ten more votes than Lozano. Lozano sued, claiming that White received illegal votes, and a judge ruled in Lozano’s favor.
White appealed that decision, and the Texas 13th Court of Appeals ruled Monday that Lozano was the winner of the election. The city plans to hold a swearing-in ceremony for Lozano on July 16th.
