AstraZeneca Insists Vaccine Is Safe After Clotting Reports

Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca insists its coronavirus vaccine is safe despite worries it could cause blood clotting problems. The Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark, Norway and Iceland have suspended the vaccine over reports of clotting issues.

However, AstraZeneca says after 17-million vaccinations in the European Union and United Kingdom, there’s no evidence of increased risk of pulmonary embolism or deep vein thrombosis. There have been around three dozen reports of blood clotting issues, but the company says that’s similar to other COVID-19 vaccines.
