The attorney for the man accused of murdering actor Jonathan Joss says his client acted in self-defense. Nico LaHood is the attorney for “Freddy” Alvarez, who is accused of shooting and killing Joss on June 1st.
LaHood says Alvarez and Joss were engaged in a months-long dispute because they were neighbors and says Alvarez was defending himself. He says people in the area are familiar with the long-standing issues involving Joss, and notes that police had been called to Joss’ property over 60 times in a two-year period.
Joss’ husband has claimed that homophobic slurs were hurled at the couple and that he wants the killing to be treated as a hate crime.
