By Texas lawmakers are considering a measure that would rename part of a Cameron County highway for a fallen police officer. House Bill 1960 would rename part of State Highway 345 for former San Benito Police Lieutenant Milton Resendez.
Resendez died in October of 2023 when he was shot by a suspect during a police pursuit. The bill is still under consideration in the House Transportation Committee.
