Cameron County’s sheriff says a body found over the weekend near Santa Maria has been identified. The body was found Sunday morning near the Rio Grande River.
Sheriff Manuel Trevino announced Monday that the body belongs to an 18-year-old from Matamoros. The sheriff’s office is not releasing the teen’s name at this time. Investigators are treating the death as an accidental drowning.
