Border Agents Ensure Immigrants Remain Safe, Healthy During Asylum Process

The head of the El Paso sector for the Border Patrol says her agents work to make sure immigrants stay safe and healthy.

Yesterday, KFOX reported that El Paso Sector Chief Gloria Chavez says her agency has middleman duties to get the illegal asylum-seeking immigrants medically screened and provide them with safe, temporary housing, clothing and food.

Chavez says other federal agencies like Health and Human Services make sure the immigrants end up with family members or in other foster care arrangements while they await an asylum petition hearing in immigration court.
