Texas lawmakers are looking to crack down on child sex trafficking at the southern border. A bill in the state legislature would fund rapid DNA testing of families that are seeking asylum.

State Representative Terri Leo-Wilson points to a federal pilot program, run by ICE, in 2019. It found that one-in-three suspected families were not biologically related. But there are concerns that the DNA testing would separate families with legally adopted children.
