The Brownsville school district is confirming that a district employee was shot earlier this week.
Police say 41-year-old Gerardo Enrique Garcia was shot Wednesday morning in the 55-hundred block of Rawhide Drive. Officers were reportedly responding to a domestic disturbance call, and shot Garcia when he fired a gun at them.
The Brownsville ISD confirmed that Garcia was employed at Rivera Early College High School at the time of the shooting. The district is not offering any further comment, saying the shooting is under investigation by the appropriate authorities.
