Cameron County Jail Inmates To Get Coronavirus Vaccines

The Cameron County jail system will be the first in the state to begin vaccinating its inmates against the coronavirus. Sheriff Eric Garza says starting Monday, inmates will be getting the Moderna vaccine.

The shots will be administered by personnel with the county Emergency Management and Public Health departments. Garza says the vaccinations will allow a cautious resumption of in-person visitation for jail detainees.
