The coronavirus curfew is over in Cameron County. County Judge Eddie Trevino Friday lifted the overnight curfew – but with a warning that if cases of COVID-19 begin rising like they are in most other parts of the country, he will reinstate the curfew and other restrictions.
At a news conference Friday, Trevino again stressed the importance of residents taking it upon themselves to wear face coverings, wash and sanitize their hands, and to keep a safe distance from each other, noting that the statistics show those measures are working.
Trevino also urged residents that even with the holidays coming up, to not succumb to COVID fatigue – that if families can sacrifice a traditional Thanksgiving this year, they should be able to return to having one next year.
Since the devastating number of COVID-19 infections and deaths this summer, Cameron County has been averaging about 3 dozen cases a day and at least one death a day.
