With coronavirus cases still rising and COVID-19 patients filling up hospital beds, Cameron County is further extending its public health emergency order.
County Judge Eddie Trevino Monday approved a month-long extension – keeping health and safety guidelines in effect through February 5th. At the same time, Trevino lifted the curfew that had been in place as a way to reduce the spread of the virus during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday period.
The extended order continues to require residents to wear a face covering and limit large gatherings, and it strongly recommends that people avoid crowds. It also states bars and nightclubs must abide by Governor Abbott’s executive order to stay at 50 percent occupancy and to close by 11 p.m.
