The Catholic Diocese of El Paso is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. El Paso Catholic Bishop Mark Seitz says the diocese is facing a dozen lawsuits from people claiming they were abused by clergy as minors.

Seitz said he hopes the bankruptcy filing will help make sure survivors are compensated fairly and allow the church to continue operating. The bishop also apologized to survivors.
