The Mexican border state of Chihuahua is shutting down all non-essential activity this weekend as COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations continue to rise.

Government officials say the shutdown will last from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. Public safety and health care activity and basic grocery shopping will be allowed, while restaurants will only be able to deliver food to customers. Chihuahua saw 67 new COVID-19 deaths yesterday, and more than a thousand people are hospitalized due to the virus.
